Can't afford a $5000 certifier but want a more professional test than you are performing now? Byte Brothers has the answer. In addition to the normal distance, opens, shorts, distance to fault and wire map - the Real World Certifier (RWC) performs sophisticated timing, crosstalk and cable construction tests to display cable category (Cat 5E, CAT6, etc.), propagation delay and skew. This greatly improves your installation skills because the RWC spots slightly undercrimped connections, cable coiled in the wall and other maladies that affect cable performance. Plus, you can store up to 250 test results in the RWC's flash memory for later printing using standard Excel spreadsheets. These can be emailed or given to your customer as proof of test. And, if you wish to test hubs, switches and NIC cards, the RWC displays the device's signal level(s) and device type (10,100,1000MB/s, half and full duplex). This is useful in determining signal strength at the end of a long cable run. Includes the main unit, a toner probe, carrying case and 1 hour instructional DVD. Compatible with all network devices.

Test CAT5/6 Cables (UTP):
  • Shorts, distance to short
  • Opens, distance to open
  • Cable length (in feet)
  • Wiremap (IEEE 802.3 pairs)
  • Split pairs
  • Crosstalk (NEXT/FEXT) digitally on a PASS/FAIL basis
  • Propagation delay and skew per pair
  • Cable Category bar graph (CAT3 thru CAT 6) - The most popular test performed by the RWC determines cable category by digitally pulsing the cable and analyzing the cable parameters that affect speed. The RWC differs from the EIA/TIA standard because it tests with digital pulses, not sinewaves, yet the RWC results are accurate and greatly improve cable installation practices.
  • Speed - Bar graph shows predicted cable speed (10M, 100M, 1000M)

  • Test Coax Cables:
  • Short, distance to fault
  • Open, distance to fault
  • Cable length (in feet)

  • Test Network Devices:
  • The RWC displays link speed, duplex and data levels of network gear. Data level is displayed via a bar chart with the IEEE minimum voltage shown.
  • Determine speed and duplex ("advertised" speed)
  • Connect inline and determine speed and duplex of two devices ("negotiated" speed)
  • Test port data level (to meet minimum IEEE standards)

  • Cable and Port Locator:
  • The RWC displays link speed, duplex and data levels of network gear. Data level is displayed via a bar chart with the IEEE minimum voltage shown.
  • Locate both UTP and coax cable with tone. The Main Unit applies the tone and the probe detects it.
  • Locate connected ports with the port beacon feature. The Main Unit pulses the connected port and blinks the port's LED.

  • Store and Print Test Results:
  • 250 Reports - Store up to 250 test results in the RWC's flash memory for late transfer to your PC's Excel spreadsheet program
  • Email or print reports - Because the report is Excel, it can be easily emailed to your customer or printing is always an option
  • Automatically named - Reports are named sequentially 1-250 but you can add up to 16 characters of a custom naming per test
  • Combined report - The RWC can combine cable test data with network device testing data into a single report. In other words, results of a cable test can be combined with the test results from a network device using the same cable.

  • Includes:
  • Main Unit and Probe; 2 patch cables; data transfer cable and software; "Passed" stickers; 1 hour DVD showing the RWC in action; zippered, embroidered pouch; instruction manual; and 9V batteries (2)

  • RWC1000 User Guide
