The Jonard Tools AHC-10 adjustable hole cutter is designed for cutting round holes in ceilings, walls, and floors and is the perfect tool for installing recessed speakers, lighting, or other round objects.

Features:

Cuts plywood, plasterboard, and acrylic sheet up to 1 1/16” (2.7 cm) thick

Cutting depth is adjustable via hex locknut and compression spring

Cuts hole sizes from 2.2” (55 mm) to 10” (254 mm)

Polycarbonate transparent dust shield collects dust and prevents chips from flying into eyes while cutting

Rubber gasket provides surface protection against damage, tight seal against flat surfaces, and prevents fallout from debris

Compression spring absorbs vibrations while cutting

Can be used with any variable-speed drill

Includes rugged carry case

Power drill not included with hole cutter

This is a tricky tool to master. You need a firm grip, or out will skid out of control. But once you get the hang of it, it's a major time and labor saver. I recently did a job with 50+ 8" speakers in a suspended ceiling, and cutting them all out with a jab saw would have been horrible. This makes a clean, perfect circle ... as long as you hold it firmly until the hole is established. Let it slip in the beginning, and it's going to walk sideways and make a mess.

For a long time, I had intended to get something like this for ceiling speakers. In particular to cut a large hole and contain the mess. Maybe it needs to be running at high speed before the cutters contact. I don't know. I do know it nearly jerked the drill out of my hand when it made contact and I was unable to finish a hole with it. What a major disappointment.
