Jonard MRS-24 MagneTriever® Wire Fishing Kit - 24" Magnetic Retriever, 10' Ball Chain

The MRS-24 MagneTriever® from Jonard is flexible and designed to be used with insulated or uninsulated walls or to fish walls in between floors. The retriever has 2 high-strength neodymium magnets, one on each end, that reach in and grab the 10ft ball chain through one of the 2 sized holes you drilled.

The 3/4" stop ring keeps the ball chain from falling into the wall, and the eyelet on the chain ties off to a pull string or connects to most wires.

    • To Fish a Wall Using the MRS-24:
  • Drill a hole in your wall or top plate, then drop the eye loop end of the ball chain down the wall. The chain will collect at the bottom of the wall
  • Locate your wall fish location and take the baseboard off the wall, scoring the wall with a knife first so you do not peel the paint and do not break the baseboard
  • Drill a hole so you can fish the ball chain out using the MRS-24. Make sure the MRS-24 is shaped like a "Z" or "S" so you can go back and forth to find your ball chain
  • Once you find the ball chain, carefully bring it to the hole. The chain will not completely come out of the hole. Use the expandable retriever hook and pull the chain out of the hole
  • Tie a pull string on the end of the ball chain eyelet. The other end of the pull string is connected to the wire to be fished in the wall
  • This helps in case you need to pull the cable through rough spots in the wall cavity, so you do not break your ball chain

    I use the telescoping retriever hook almost every day; I keep it in my shirt arm pocket for quick access.  The magnetic retriever is super handy along with the supplied chain for fishing pull strings out of a wall, especially in tight spaces.

    Have worked structured cable/telecom for 21 years.  Mostly doing network/data/phone cabling for very large cube farms with dedicated cable pathways and trays through the buildings into office furniture and mud rings in walls.  Recently did some work with a security/alarm company in commercial buildings.  Never saw anyone fish a cable through a 3/8in hole in the wall with a magnet and chain before.  Best idea ever!!! Only one guy on the crew had one of these kits and we really needed at least two. Went straight home the first day and found this kit on your site and bought it.  Made the next couple weeks so much easier!!!

    This is a great tool to have. Bends to where I need it. Only thing I wish was a little different is the extending hook. If the end of it could bend instead of being rigid then it would be perfect.

    Make first floor wall fish a breeze in open walls. Not so good with insulation. Medal studs make it a little harder but works.
