Gaffs are the wear item on a set of climbers — every ascent dulls them, every rock and lag screw risks a chip, and a compromised gaff point is not something to climb on.

The 1-9/16" profile isn't arbitrary — these gaffs are longer in length and wider in angle than 1-1/2" gaffs, for exceptional resistance to cutouts.
Replacement is straightforward by design: Klein's replaceable-gaff system attaches each gaff to the leg iron with a center pin and two TORX screws, so a worn or damaged gaff comes off and a fresh one goes on in the field, keeping a good set of leg irons, pads, and straps in service for years at gaff-only cost.
