The Ripley Miller ACS Armored Cable Slitter (37880) is the professional-grade answer: it slits the outer polyethylene jacket and the corrugated copper, steel, or aluminum armor layer in a single controlled pass, on fiber feeder, central tube, and stranded loose tube cables — plus jacket and shield slitting on non-fiber armored cables.
A guide wheel stabilizes the tool on the cable so the cut tracks straight, and the precision-adjustable blade depth (up to 0.22" / 5.5 mm) lets you set the cut to the armor and no deeper, protecting the tube bundle inside.
The blade rotates 90° with a simple lever, so the same tool performs both longitudinal slits for mid-span access and circumferential ring cuts for end prep — no tool swap in the splice pit.
The ACS accommodates cable outside diameters from 0.315" to 1.125" (8 mm to 28.6 mm), covering the bulk of OSP feeder and distribution plant.
