This is the high-power version of RMT's popular fiber test combo — the kit to grab if you work CATV, RFoG, or PON plant where optical levels run hot.
The ST800K-A power meter measures from -50 all the way up to +26 dBm, headroom that cheaper meters simply don't have, so you can read amplifier and transmitter outputs directly without saturating the detector. Paired with the ST815 laser source putting out stable 1310 nm and 1550 nm light through a single port, this kit handles the two jobs field techs do every day: absolute power measurement at any point in the plant, and end-to-end insertion loss testing using the meter's relative (dB) mode.
Both units read and generate tone-modulated light (270 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz) for identifying a specific fiber in a bundle.
Everything is field-practical: rugged housings, big backlit LCDs, auto-off to save batteries, 150-hour meter runtime on standard AAs, and interchangeable FC, SC, and ST adapters in the box.
