The Ripley Tools WS49 (Part #27700) is a purpose-built combination stripping and penciling tool designed specifically for 5kV L-824 Type C airport lighting cable at the #8 AWG conductor size. In a single compact tool, it performs both end-access jacket stripping and conductor penciling (shaving), eliminating the need for separate tools during airport lighting cable termination and splicing work.

The WS49 includes four interchangeable bushings sized for cable outer diameters of 0.395", 0.42", 0.445", and 0.49", accommodating the natural variation in L-824 Type C cable diameters across manufacturers. A guarded blade design prevents accidental contact during operation, reducing injury risk compared to open-blade knives. Strip length is preset at 0.75" (19.05 mm) and pencil/shave length at 0.5" (12.7 mm) for consistent, repeatable results on every termination.
