Flat FTTH drop cable defeats round-cable strippers: the 3.1 mm x 2.1 mm profile with strength members flanking the fiber needs a tool shaped for the job. The Jonard FDS-312 is exactly that tool - a 2-in-1 that strips the outer jacket of standard flat drop cables and cuts the strength members in the same operation, exposing the fiber cleanly for connectorization or splicing at the ONT, closure, or wall plate.

It handles both FRP (fiberglass-reinforced plastic) and steel strength members, and removes the jacket without damaging or nicking the fiber inside. That no-nick performance matters on drop prep: a scratched fiber at the entry point becomes an attenuation problem or a break in the wall later. A fiber support scaled with strip-length markings takes the guesswork out of prep dimensions, so every drop gets the same correct strip.

The non-slip cushion-grip handle fights hand fatigue across a full day of installs, and the tool is pocket-sized at about 4.5" and a third of a pound. For the smaller 2 mm x 1.6 mm drop profile, Jonard makes the companion FDS-216.
