The Ripley UtilityTool SCS is a compact, user-friendly semi-con scoring tool designed for medium voltage 5 to 35kV cable applications. It scores the semi-conducting layer cleanly without damaging the underlying insulation, eliminating the risk of cuts and lacerations associated with traditional stripping knives. The SCS accommodates cable diameters from 0.31in to 2.0in (8 to 51mm) and is capable of performing longitudinal, spiral, and calibrated square cuts.

Precise blade depth adjustment allows for accurate semi-con scoring across a wide range of cable constructions, and the tool operates within a compact 2in (51mm) envelope on larger cables. Two models are available: the standard SCS with a general-purpose cable guide for most medium voltage cable constructions, and the SCS V2 with a narrowed cable guide suited for sheathed and jacketed 3-phase assemblies where better control on bowed or curved cable is needed. Blades are easy to replace, keeping the tool in service with minimal downtime.

The SCS is the preferred tool for utility linemen, cable splicers, and electrical contractors working on primary distribution underground cable. It is compatible with CommScope, Okonite, Southwire, and other standard medium voltage cable constructions.
