The Ripley Tools BP 1A "Banana Peeler" (Part #34244) is an adjustable semi-con scoring tool designed for the removal of strippable semi-conductive shielding on 5-35kV primary distribution underground cable. It handles semi-con diameters from 0.75in to 1.10in (19.05 to 27.94 mm), making it the right choice for the smaller end of the primary URD cable range. The adjustable blade depth - from 1 to 90 mils (0.025 to 2.286 mm) - lets the technician score precisely through the semi-con layer without contacting or damaging the underlying XLPE or EPR insulation.

The BP 1A is built for single-handed operation, performing both spiral and longitudinal semi-con scoring cuts in one compact tool. A Teflon-coated cable guide reduces friction for smooth, controlled cutting action, and the spring-loaded blade assembly maintains consistent scoring depth throughout each pass.
